Operational Risk Technology Manager

Join a team of experienced risk professionals and partner with our Commodities & Global Markets business to drive a strong risk culture across Technology.

Macquarie’s Commodities and Global Markets group provides clients with an integrated, end-to-end offering across global markets including equities, fixed income, foreign exchange and commodities.

In this role, you’ll partner with Commodities and Global Markets teams to ensure that Technology Risk is managed effectively, in line with Macquarie’s Operational Risk Management Frameworks and associated policies. You’ll work with the team to drive a strong, proactive risk culture and a clear understanding of the risk framework.

The role requires you to:

  • Work collaboratively with the Technology team and senior business stakeholders to identify operational issues and control breakdowns and advise on proposed responses.
  • Drive discussions around Operational risk incident investigation to identify root cause, breakdown in controls and assessing strategic solutions which should be in place to prevent an re-occurrence.
  • Conduct controls assurance reviews , risk workshops, technology risk related training  and any other ad hoc risk discussion as required.
  • Support ad hoc tactical and strategic risk initiatives to meet business and operational demands through thoughtful partnership.
  • Think outside the box and use some data analytics/ process mining tools to automate control testing. Any prior experience in process automation, coding, or analytics tools are highly desired. Basic knowledge of Data Analytics tools like Alteryx/Power BI or SQL would be an advantage.

To be successful, you will have Technology expertise with operational risk management, assurance experience, or data analytics.
Ideally, you will have experience gained in-house or working with clients in a professional services environment.

Experience or knowledge in assessing Public Cloud deployments (IaaS and PaaS) is beneficial.  

Prior experience to highly regulated businesses like Financial Institutions and or Healthcare would be an advantage.

Relevant industry certification is desirable (eg: CISA / CRISC / CISSP etc)

You will have the ability to think laterally, problem solve and grasp abstract concepts and complex situations.  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the capability to initiate and lead conversations with business leaders and risk management colleagues regarding anticipated and emerging issues are essential.  You will be highly motivated and comfortable working within a dynamic, fast paced, enterprise agile environment.
