Financial Risk Projects – Project Management Officer

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Program Management Officer to join our growing team focused on delivering Financial Risk projects within our Risk Management Group.  

We are a project delivery team tasked with supporting our client divisions being Market Risk, Credit Risk and Aggregate Risk and are growing our team to meet an ambitious change agenda. Our persistent internal project team is comprised of project professionals who focus on complex middle office initiatives such Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB), APRA regulation changes like APS117, APS220 & APS221 or implementing strategic change to key processes and platforms used to measure and manage risk. The role offers a great career path for an organised mind with an interest and curiosity in Financial Markets and Financial Risk across the group. 

With prior experience in the field of Project, Program or Portfolio Management, you will work very closely with the Financial Risk Portfolio Director to organise, report on and manage our $50m+ portfolio of financial risk initiatives. This role will grow to meet your skillset and is a gateway to a projects career at Macquarie.

You will be responsible for:  

  • Building and maintaining portfolio management deliverables, reporting and tracking on progress for the Reg Affairs and Financial Risk portfolio, leveraging work done across the broader projects & change team.
  • Becoming our portfolio expert in our internal frameworks, working with the central portfolio management team to apply them to our portfolio.
  • Gaining exposure to programs in the portfolio, assisting on program artefacts such as Steering Committee packs, plans, project reports and budgets as your schedule allows.
  • Using your risk mindset to identify, communicate and manage project risks 

You will bring with you a structured approach and attention to detail with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You will also have a basic excel / data skills for portfolio wide tracking, planning and management coupled with an interest and understanding of work required in the financial risk domain, if not direct experience. Your previous experience in Agile / Waterfall ways of working and project management and proven interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with senior stakeholders and manage expectations will set you up for success in this role. Bachelors degree or equivalent essential.

The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for ensuring all risk across Macquarie are appropriately assessed and managed. Its divisions include Behavioural Risk, Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Regulatory Affairs and Aggregate Risk, and RMG Enterprise Support.
