Senior Manager - Injury Management and Work Health and Safety (16-month contract)

An opportunity has come up for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with occupational rehabilitation, employee health, and insurance expertise to join a driven and experienced Human Resources team as the Senior Manager - Injury Management and Work Health and Safety (WHS).

About the role and responsibilities:

  • Encompassing a wide range of injury management and WHS related matters you will be engaging with staff across the business by leading the development and implementation of proactive health and wellbeing initiatives in the prevention of incidents, injuries, and illnesses
  • managing health cases and insurance claims of work and non-work-related injuries and illnesses using best practice and early intervention case management principles
  • engaging business partners and different stakeholders within the business in the management of individual health matters
  • participating in insurer claim review meetings and analysis of claims management data to identify key trends
  • managing our WHS framework, including hazard identification and risk mitigation, first aid, ergonomics, manual handling and psychological health and safety
  • providing analysis, specialist knowledge and advice on current trends, research, and evidence to influence improvement in relation to organisational psychosocial risks
  • overseeing and contributing to the development, delivery and evaluation of wellbeing initiatives and training programs
  • implementing and monitoring injury management and WHS policies, frameworks, and procedures, to comply with legislative and internal business requirements
  • managing employee health insurance policies and policy renewals as well as, industry practice and regulatory change to generate reports and drive improvements based on insights identified.

About you:

  • 8+ years in occupational rehabilitation or employee insurances experience
  • tertiary qualifications in an Allied Health Profession or WHS
  • strong knowledge of Worker’s compensation and Life insurance legislation, including claims and policy management
  • you are a natural decision maker with an ability to develop innovative solutions in a complex environment
  • you have a proactive attitude with the ability to adapt quickly to different and multiple tasks
  • you have the ability to apply negotiation strategies and work proactively to resolve issues
  • you pride yourself on delivering high quality work with great attention to detail to tight deadlines
  • you have demonstrated experience in psychosocial risk management with a proven track record of achieving positive outcomes
  • you have the ability to build valued and trusted relationships with stakeholders across the business and with various external providers
  • you balance empathy with a commercial mindset to achieve sustainable outcomes for all parties.
