Head Of Engineering - Energy Tech – EV
Join our Green Investment Group as a highly motivated Head of Engineering within our European e-mobility business to help the Group support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. This is a London-based role. Initially, you will work in the Energy Technology team supporting the CEO, Operations Director and executive team in the development of the e-mobility business. Ultimately, it is envisaged that this role will transfer into a dedicated EV platform business at which point, as Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for the technical design and construction of high-power electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy infrastructure for both public and private sector B2B clients, across Europe.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President / CEO and working closely with the Operations Director, you will ultimately be responsible for the design and construction of EV charging infrastructure across Europe. This is a key senior management position tasked with creating the company’s approach to designing and delivering high power charging infrastructure and associated projects; including grid connection upgrades, on-site energy storage and renewable generation. You will be responsible for the design (from concept to commissioning), equipment specification, project budgets, supplier / contractor management, Project Management Office (PMO) oversight and final construction. You will be expected to engage with industry bodies and regulators on matters relating to business activities, ensuring the interests of the company are considered at all times.
In your role as Head of Engineering, you will interface with wider internal teams, clients, partners, suppliers and consultancies and will be expected to be an ambassador for the business during any external engagement. You will be responsible for the contractual sign-off of project design and compliance with the relevant technical regulations. You will continuously review emerging technologies and design practices to ensure the business remains at the leading edge.
You will be expected to build the Engineering and Project Management functions capable of delivering high value, infrastructure projects across Europe. You will be expected to recruit and develop high performing people, define and implement best practice and ensure the business is capable of working to and gaining accreditation to industry standards and assurance schemes (e.g. ISO9001, 15001, 45001). You will take a client-centric approach at all times, providing the highest standard of customer care whilst supporting our customers in their transition to EVs, optimising their costs and carbon emissions.
For success in this role, you would have held senior positions in a similar role within the energy, construction, transport or facilities management (FM) sectors. You will ideally be a Chartered Engineer with experience of designing high power electrical systems (AC and DC) and delivering M&E construction projects. Knowledge of telemetry, telematics, instrumentation and control strategies and connectivity (M2M and wireline communication, 4/5G and wider OTA) technologies is a key requirement for this role whilst experience of EV charging, battery storage or renewable power generation is highly valued.
Ideally, you will have experience of working across European markets and associated language skills are highly regarded.
Transfer within EV Business
We anticipate that in 2022 your employment may transfer to the company which is being incorporated to house GIG’s European EV Platform, along with other employees of the Employer who are assigned to that business. The Employer will provide information to you regarding the terms of that transfer in due course.
