Manager, Accounting Policy and Advisory Group

In this challenging and varied role, you will have the opportunity to partner with all Macquarie business units to provide advice on the correct IFRS accounting treatments for a wide range of complex and unique transactions, deals and other projects. You will be supported by various senior members of the team who will equip you to build strong technical and advisory skills.

You will be advising on appropriate accounting treatments for proposed transactions, as well as preparing accounting guidance and frameworks to support technical conclusions. Keeping abreast of accounting developments will help you to succeed in the role. You will communicate complex topics and issues to non-specialists and assist with interpreting and practically applying accounting standards. You will prepare training materials and present on new and existing accounting standards in both informal workshops and formal presentations to different audiences within Macquarie. Further, as part of our Accounting Policy and Advisory Group, you will be involved in writing and maintaining Macquarie accounting policies.

Key to your success in this role will be your intellectual curiosity and ability to grasp complex concepts quickly, coupled with your technical accounting and IFRS standards experience.  You will be a Chartered Accountant with accounting experience either within a Big 4 Chartered Accountancy firm or in an Accounting Policy team.  Naturally, you will have the tenacity to get to the right outcome by performing thorough research and operating in a collaborative environment. If you are successful in your application, you will join the Accounting  Policy and Advisory Group with an initial focus on specific areas of IFRS such as revenue recognition, lease accounting and tax effect accounting. Therefore, practical experience in applying these accounting standards will be desirable.

You will be a productive and resourceful individual with the capacity to work autonomously as well as enjoy being a team player. Additionally, you will demonstrate the ability to juggle multiple demands on your time to meet the needs of various stakeholders within Macquarie.
