Capability / Competency Manager -12 month fixed term contract


Join our dynamic Learning & Development function in the collaborative People, Culture and Client Experience division of Macquarie’s retail bank, Banking and Financial Services. In this role, you will be expected to leverage your experience in learning and development and think creatively and laterally.

You will work on delivering a strategy to ensure that people have the right knowledge and skills to serve our clients. This role plays a crucial part in the strategy, from providing learning expertise and recommendations regarding the build of learning experiences to implementation of learning via varied delivery mediums, you will be exposed to a diverse range of activities. It will be important for you to bring concepts and their application to life in an engaging manner, as well as to articulate the most complex topics in a simple manner using best-in-class learning.

In this role you will:

  • collaborate with Business Partners, Head of Design and Delivery and business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • identify roles that need Capability / Competency mapping
  • document the role profile for these roles
  • list competencies as per Australian Skills Qualification Framework
  • ensure Capability / Competencies are aligned to divisional strategies
  • define knowledge, skills and behavioural indicators
  • create a Capability / Competency framework
  • identify the success criteria
  • create questionnaires for potential candidates
  • design competency-based self-evaluation
  • design questionnaires for people managers to use in performance conversations
  • design questionnaires for people managers to identify learning requirements
  • collaborate with HR/talent to define potential career paths
  • document maintenance for competency frameworks
  • train people managers across Banking and Financial Services to use frameworks and associated assets
  • collaborate with stakeholders to implement an enterprise competency management tool.

To secure this great opportunity, you will have:

  • background in learning consultancy, ideally in the Financial Services/Banking
  • certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • 5 years’ in a Capability / Competency management role preferably in an RTO/consultancy
  • Managed large-scale competency mapping projects with previous project management software, including MS Excel/Project
  • experience with corporate competency management automation
  • built and maintained strong relationships with business customers/clients
  • worked strategically and commercially in pursuit of wider business objectives
  • worked in fast-paced, stressful environments to deliver required results
  • strong business/commercial acumen as well as commitment to optimise, learning end-to-end processes and Australian standards
  • strong influencing and communication skills
  • maturity to interact with leaders and/or senior business leaders in the organisation
  • ability to resolve issues or challenges as they arise
  • strong collaboration skills and experience in consulting to determine learning needs
  • ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • strong understanding of the learning industry globally and in Australia
  • excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • creative thinking and are extremely responsible and organised with an obsessive attention to detail.
